Energy Star, is a government-led energy conservation program for consumer electronics. The Energy Star program, launched in 1992 by the EPA’s (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE), aims to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The plan was later adopted by Australia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand and the European Union. The program is voluntary, and the Energy Star standard is usually 20-30% more efficient than the federal standard in the United States.
